Shike Design transformed this 20-year-old restaurant in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, with a contemporary renovation that updated the space while preserving the character of the longtime neighborhood venue.

The renovation focused on improving both guest experience and functionality. At the bar, the host stand was relocated to create additional seating, while the back bar was redesigned to improve workflow and accommodate a second service well. In the dining room, the bulkhead was lowered and walls were added around the counter to buffer light from the open kitchen and expo line.

To address the exposed HVAC and trusses, Shike Design introduced a custom sound-louver cloud that concealed the mechanical elements while creating a more cohesive dining environment. Simplified wall detailing, new wallpaper and paneling, custom steel screens, and walnut furnishings added warmth and texture throughout the space.

To balance the new elements with the existing space and project budget, the original booths were reupholstered and paired with new walnut furniture, adding warmth throughout the dining room. New lighting completed the restaurant interior design and helped bring the updated space together.

The result is a contemporary restaurant interior that balances improved function with the character of this longtime neighborhood destination, completed on budget and on schedule.
