PROCESS
Phase 1: Design
In Phase 1 we create a plan of the space, layout the furniture and flow, and establish a direction for the aesthetic of the design intent.
Phase 2: Development
In Phase 2 we tune the design to a final solution. We deliver plans to architecture and engineering for construction drawings for plan review, and develop a budget for the project. Site reviews with MEP vendors verify the site conditions and help to plan the production process. We submit stamped plans to the City for approval.
Phase 3: Production
In Phase 3 we build the final design. We respond to city comments and obtain permits to begin construction. We meet with fabricators for custom aspects. We supervise construction to produce the design. We set up inspections with the City and required entities to obtain final approval to open the business.
David Schaich | Owner
Following his first position as an eyewear designer for Bausch & Lomb developing sport & fashion brands, David established Shike Design in 1995 to pursue a variety of design markets, including product, furniture, trade shows and hospitality interior design and build.
David developed his design prowess through a lifetime of exposure to design, fine art, and artisan crafts. His family includes graphic and fashion designers, and craftsman. He spent his college summers working in construction and production facilities, gaining valuable knowledge in how to build ideas.
Work in automotive and bicycle mechanics, carpentry, construction, and steel fabrication further developed a working knowledge of design and engineering. Relocation to the Rocky Mountains after college to compete in mountain sports led to design relationships where he created innovative products and marketing platforms for top international outdoor brands. He developed a modern furniture line that debuted at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in 2004, and has designed music venues and nightclubs that showcase world class musicians. This cross pollination of design disciplines has established a solid process to provide comprehensive and successful solutions to his work. He has focused on hospitality interiors for the past 20 years, with over 100 locations completed to date.
Weekends are spent in the mountains with his family hiking, biking, fishing and skiing throughout their amazing backyard wilderness of Colorado.
“Dave guided us from concept to completion with creativity, flexibility, and a strong focus on budget. He transformed our space into something fantastic, delivering a functional, impactful design while working seamlessly with our team and contractors.”
