Story

(shike)design was founded in 1995 by industrial designer David Schaich. Originally from Pennsylvania, he received his BFA in Industrial Design and Sculpture Minor at Carnegie Mellon University. Relocation to Colorado after college provided the setting to pursue mountain bike racing, snowboarding, and inspiration from the Rocky Mountains.

(shike) has established a reputation for his diversity in product, environment, and furniture design. His goal is to provide clear and direct solutions that embrace a “less is more” philosophy. Maintaining timeless designs prevails in his creations.

(shike)design has produced successful creations for a variety of product markets, with emphasis in outdoor sports, including eyewear, bicycles, and snow sports. Positions in manufacturing, automotive restoration, and kit aircraft production developed a practical knowledge of mechanics. Environment design ranging from contemporary nightclubs, modern commercial and residential spaces, and educational and tradeshow exhibits, provide a diversity to his experience with scale and social impact. (shike) also designs furniture and lighting, which accent many of the spaces he creates.

(shike) has developed a furniture line for mass market, which was displayed at the 2004 International Contemporary Furniture Fair. The line has evolved from his desire for affordable design for the masses. This work has been published in national design journals.

(shike)´s creations accentuate the balance of form and function, providing practical solutions that shed new light on everyday living. Collaborating with creatives that believe in the ability to offer design that combines aesthetic quality with the greatest potential return is essential to his cause and effect.
